Industry Innovation Lunch: Increasing Operational Efficiency & User Empowerment with MDM
Arcos Dorados Holdings is McDonald’s largest franchisee in the world in terms of systemwide sales and number of restaurants. As the largest operator of McDonald's restaurants in Latin America and the Caribbean (2,000+ locations), it has more than 94,000 employees, being one of the region's leading employers of young, first-time job holders. It serves more than 4.3 million customers daily and is the largest quick service restaurant (QSR) chain in Latin America and the Caribbean. This session will present the MDM program that enabled Arcos Dorados to optimize business processes, better quality of information and complete management of the company's main business assets. The implementation also improved the empowerment of business users by empowering them to be autonomous in the technology area while concurrently establishing governance over shared master data which represented a huge operational gain.
While near term business benefits were huge via the very complex business process of “item registration, this is just the start of an overall digital business platform. By initially focusing of the “store of the future” and related business capabilities, Arcos Dorados was able to blend together the best of business process management (BPM) and master data management (MDM) to increase both operational efficiency and user enablement.
Topics for this case study presentation include:
- Recognizing that not all data is equal with corresponding need to segregate governance, sharing & storage of data using central, regional & local models
- Leveraging MDM to help drive business process integrity
- Evolving the digital business by focusing on processes initially with later focus on data integration infrastructure
